Button points to Honda shortcomings

12 April 2012

Honda's failure to put any points on the board is still a cause for concern for Jenson Button.

Button and team-mate Rubens Barrichello have failed to score any points in 2007 and though the Briton saw improvements in qualifying in Monaco a fortnight ago the performance did not translate to the race.

"It was an improvement definitely but I think we were helped by Kimi (Raikkonen) hitting the wall in qualifying," Button said ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. "But in the race we didn't perform like we expected. We didn't get into the points, which I was hoping for."

He added: "We didn't have the best strategy. We thought we did going into the race, you always do, but it turns out we didn't.

"Our results in practice weren't correct with the tyres and how long they lasted throughout the race. But it's all good experience for here."
