Burgess moves to Brentford

13 April 2012

Brentford hope they have solved their goalscoring problems after signing Blackburn striker Ben Burgess on loan.

Burgess scored 16 goals in 23 games for Australian side Northern Spirit last season to become their record scorer.

The 19-year-old is expected to make his debut when Brentford take on Port Vale in the Second Division at Griffin Park on Saturday.

Manager Steve Coppell said: "We've been looking for a striker for a long time. He's here for a month to start with but the loan could be extended if he likes us and we like him."
