Kal Yafai claimed the WBA super-flyweight title in his 21st professional fight in Manchester with a unanimous points win over Panama's outgoing champion Luis Concepcion.

The Birmingham 27-year-old dominated the bout against an opponent whose was bound to lose his title whatever happened after failing to make the 115lbs limit on the scales on Friday.

Yafai knocked Concepcion to the canvas with a 10th-round flurry and there was little doubt about the landslide verdict, which he was awarded 120-108, 117-110, 119-108 on the three judges' cards.

Yafai had set the tone for a slick and confident performance with a pair of eye-catching right hands in the second round and a strong third cemented his advantage against an opponent who looked devoid of energy.

A pair of inch-perfect left hooks in round six merely proved the Birmingham favourite was in no mood to let his advantage slip heading into the second half of the fight, and he continued to go about his work with focus and precision.

Yafai's steady assault began to pay dividends in the 10th when a flurry of punches put Concepcion on the canvas, although the Panamanian was at pains to insist that he slipped.

As if to prove his point, Concepcion struck back with a short right hand to the face of Yafai, but the Birmingham man was unfazed and saw out the remainder of the contest with relative ease to claim the title.
