Bradford's Filipe Morais finally makes Stamford Bridge appearance - nine years after leaving Chelsea

Home & Morais: He's going home

Bradford midfielder Filipe Morais cannot wait to get a game at Stamford Bridge tomorrow — nine years after being released by Chelsea.

Morais joined the Blues’ academy in 2001 and earned a professional contract during Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge of the club. But the closest he got to making an appearance was as an unused substitute and he went on to join Millwall on a free transfer in 2006.

Morais said: “All my family grew up as Chelsea fans and they will be at the game — in the Chelsea end. I think he [Mourinho] will remember me as that crazy little kid.

"I remember a Cup game against Huddersfield and I was on the bench. I was told that if we were 2-0 up I would come on but Huddersfield equalised [Chelsea went on to win 2-1].

“I was gutted but to hear Mourinho talk to the first team and being part of that was fantastic.”

Didier Drogba, Loic Remy, Ramires and Kurt Zouma are all in contention to start for Chelsea.
