Bates: Leeds will appeal 'scandalous' points deduction
Leeds chairman Ken Bates has confirmed the club are going to appeal to the Football Association against the 15-point deduction imposed by the Football League.
United failed in their bid to have the punishment overturned when Football League chairmen voted overwhelmingly at an appeal meeting to uphold the decision to hit the fallen Yorkshire giants with an unprecedented sanction for an alleged breach of rules on insolvency.

But in open letter to Leeds supporters, published on the club's website, Bates revealed the club will not let the matter lie and will be contacting FA officials at Soho Square.
He said: "The 15 point 'sanction' is a scandal and a travesty of justice.
"We are appealing against that decision to the Football Association but, meanwhile, will get on with the job of strengthening the team and getting back firstly to the Championship and the Premier League."
The club were granted permission to play in League One this year only a week before the campaign began, after finally being granted their share by the Football League.
