Baltacha beaten in Hobart

British number one Elena Baltacha has been knocked out of the Moorilla Hobart International in straight sets by eighth seed Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania.

Baltacha put up a decent fight in the second set but could capitalise on only two of six break points as the 21-year-old from Bucharest secured a 6-2 7-5 win.

Begu will face compatriot Simona Halep in round two.
