Arsenal Reyes bid rejected

Arsenal have had a £10million offer for Seville's brilliant young striker Jose Antonio Reyes turned down, according to reports in Spain.

The 19-year-old has been watched by Arsenal more than a dozen times in the last two seasons and impressed by scoring 17 goals in 51 games in La Liga.

It is being reported that Arsenal vicepresident David Dein met Seville president Jose Maria Del Nido to discuss a potential transfer, but his bid was dismissed out of hand.

Del Nido said: "We didn't so much turn down the offer as laugh at it. That kind of money wouldn't even buy Reyes' boots." Seville have already turned down a £13m approach from Valencia.

Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, has moved to put pressure on the Arsenal board by giving them nine days to sign a new goalkeeper.

The Frenchman has yet to find a replacement for David Seaman and wants his new man in place by the time Arsenal play a friendly against Barnet a week on Saturday.

Wenger is growing increasingly frustrated at his inactivity in the transfer market and has demanded the money to sign an experienced keeper. He said: "At the moment I am still in the market for players. We need a new goalkeeper and that has to be done in the next nine days."
