Anelka wants to stay

13 April 2012

Nicolas Anelka is ready to agree a deal with Liverpool which will make his loan move from Paris Saint Germain to the Premiership title-chasers permanent.

The 22-year-old former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker has fitted in well since joining the Anfield club in December and, after his stunning display in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Newcastle, it has been suggested Liverpool should bring forward negotiations about his future.

Anelka, who will cost Liverpool £15 million, admits he is enjoying life on Merseyside. The Frenchman said: "Here, it's not like it is in Madrid or Paris. You can go out in the street and not be disturbed by people."

And he added: "It's been a long time since I enjoyed myself on the pitch. Liverpool is a fantastic club."
