New Davis Cup captain Leon Smith has enlisted the help of Andy Murray's mother to provide vital background information on Turkey before the critical Europe/Africa Zone Group II relegation match.

Britain must win in Eastbourne to avoid falling into the basement of the competition and with Turkey boasting the highest ranked player in the contest in world No118 Marsel Ilhan, Smith has tasked Judy Murray with the job of analysing his game.

The world No4's mother is a successful coach and has used video of Ilhan to formulate a game plan to be used by Jamie Baker and James Ward in the singles and Ken Skupski and Colin Fleming in the doubles. Murray and British No2 Alex Bogdanovic have made themselves unavailable for the tie on grass, which starts on 9 July.

Smith, skipper of the AEGON-backed team, said: "Judy is producing a performance analysis on Ihlan and it is clear he will be a tough player to beat but we can win this tie."

Baker, the world No253 is Britain's highest ranked player and replaces Dan Evans who played in the 3-2 defeat to Lithuania. Ward, ranked at No304, recently had wins over Feliciano Lopez and Rainer Schuettler on the Eastbourne grass.
