Terry's all gold
Judging by the coiffures of England managers past and present, the job is enough to turn your hair grey.
But former Three Lions supremo Terry Venables has bucked the trend to sport a very different look this season.
It appears that El Tel, 63, one of the World Cup pundits for ITV, has dyed his locks a nice shade of strawberry blond.
Celebrity hairdresser Daniel Galvin, who won the title of World Hair Colourist Of The Year, said he believed the soccer legend had applied a semipermanent tint with " horrendous results".
He said: "He has gone from a silver fox to a golden retriever. It is not a good look. The colour looks yellow and makes his skin look orange.
"A good shade can take 10 years off a person but Terry has got it all wrong.
"Football and fashion usually go hand in hand but, generally speaking, it is not the managers making the waves."
The hair job at least goes with Venables's usual tan, although that may have a more natural cause as he lives in Spain with his wife Yvette.
He got the taste for Spanish life when appointed manager of Barcelona in
1984. He guided them to their first league title in 11 years the next year but was sacked after the Catalans finished second twice. Between football tournaments he runs a development project. He uses his flamboyant image to good effect with ITV's other pundits - former players and managers who never take things too seriously, just like Venables.
