Rammstein

Eine kleine

7.30pm, Brixton Academy, 211 Stockwell Road, SW9. £25. Tube: Brixton

A rock group so over the top they make the Darkness look like Trappist monks. Hailing from Germany's industrial heartlands, Rammstein may look like a bunch of computer nerds on a team-building exercise, but in fact they play pounding, relentless, sporadically melodic metal with electronic overtones, and happily sing of murder, suffering and misery.

Recent German number one Mein Teil ("My Tool") is sung from the point of view of reallife cannibal Armin Meiwes's victim. No prizes for guessing what "Teil" is a euphemism for: "So nicely flambéed / So lovingly served on porcelain".

What makes them the most popular German group of all time (eight million-plus records sold worldwide) is their camp theatricality - best seen in their astonishing stage shows.

Expect flame-throwing guitar duels, a motorised keyboard, copious bodily fluids and, on Mein Teil, the singer chasing the keyboard player around with a meat cleaver before bundling him into a big cauldron.

And all this comes with the happy by-product of furnishing your children with the rudiments of German vocab - and a rather odd sense of humour. RG 0870 771 2000
