When Natasha Bedingfield declared her love for the local accent during a recent visit to Birmingham, city lads glowed with pride.

But the pop singer's flattery is less than exclusive, it would appear.

The 23-year-old, who had a No.1 hit with These Words, has made almost identical comments about the accents of every region she has visited to play a gig.

She told the Birmingham Evening Mail last Friday: 'I just love the Brummie accent, the accent is my favourite thing about Birmingham.'

In an interview with the Liverpool Echo days before, she gushed: 'The people here are amazing, I love the Scouse accent.' As if that's not bad enough, the singer earlier told Glasgow paper the Daily Record: ' Scottish men's accents are to die for. I hear a Scottish accent and go weak.'

Brummie fan Dave Evits, 26, said he was shocked by her betrayal. 'She says what she thinks will get her publicity and tries to suck up to people in different areas,' he added.

Bedingfield lamely defended herself by saying: 'I'm a real accent person so I love going to places where people sound different.'

She still has to visit Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield and London this year, so there are plenty more accents to declare her love for.
