Naomi Campbell spat in the face of a security guard while she was Bono's guest at a U2 concert, it is claimed.

She allegedly hurled abuse at the guard at New York's Madison Square Garden last October when he told her to stop sitting on a barrier.

'She then spat in the officer's face,' a police source told the New York Daily News.

The guard filed a harassment complaint but the case was closed because Campbell was considered more rude than harassing, according to the source.

The revelations come after Campbell was arrested for allegedly throwing a mobile phone at the head of her housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, who needed four stitches.

The British supermodel, who has been charged with assault, faces seven years in prison if she is convicted. She denies attacking her maid.
