Morrissey is set to form the inspiration for a new theatre show, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others.

Producers want to use around 22 songs by The Smiths and are in discussions with Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr over their use.

They say it will be nothing like the raft of musicals inspired by bands like Abba (Mamma Mia) and Queen (We Will Rock You).

They insist the show will not be about The Smiths or its former frontman and say Morrissey and Marr are happy with the idea.

The songs will inspire the show, will run into each other and will be arranged for string quartet.

They will be sung by a cast of six and details of the show, which will have no linear story and which producers say is not a musical, will be finalised in the next few weeks.

Named after the Morrissey lyric, the producers hope to put on Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others at the Lyric Hammersmith next June.
