Elizabeth Taylor is being treated for Alzheimer's according to reports in the U.S.

It is claimed the Oscarwinning actress, a mother of four, has been suffering from dementia for several months.

A longtime friend told the National Enquirer magazine: 'Elizabeth is now being treated for the early stages of Alzheimer's.

'At this point there is very little that can be done. She confided to her specialists that she finds herself more and more confused.

'Liz wakes up sometimes and really does not know where she is and she's scared.'

In the past, eight-times married Miss Taylor, 74, (pictured) has survived a brain tumour and several strokes. Her spokesman was unavailable for comment yesterday.
