For most children, finding a starfish on the beach is quite a thrill.

But for three youngsters on the beach in Hawaii, they were much luckier - they came across a genuine star on the sand.

The celebrity in question was Britney Spears, who was working out by the ocean during a break in Hawaii with her fiancè Kevin Federline. As she did so, a couple and their children were paddling nearby.

The younger family members sheepishly approached the singer after recognising her famous features beneath the brim of her hat.

An onlooker said: 'It was hilarious-Britney was exercising when this group of children grabbed their mother's hand and pointed at the star.

'They then all stood with their mouths hanging open as they realised it really was her. But Britney took it all in good spirit though and they all seemed to have a giggle together.'

The 22-year-old star has been performing special exercises after undergoing keyhole surgery on a knee injury she suffered while filming a pop video.

Afterwards Miss Spears, wearing a pink bikini, relaxed on a lounger as Federline enjoyed the surf.

Then the backing dancer, 26, emerged from the waves, ran over to his girl and showered her with kisses.
