Rugby star Gavin Henson's spiky barnet has been voted the best celebrity hairstyle of 2005

His gravity-defying locks were voted top of the crops in a poll by Brylcreem.

Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has the worst hair in showbiz - closely followed by Ashes hero Kevin Pietersen.

Henson recently had his gelled spikes chopped off to please girlfriend Charlotte Church, but is now growing them back.

The Welsh rugby ace finished up ahead of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.

Brylcreem style director John Birchall said: "Gavin has really emerged as a new celebrity icon both on and off the field. It seems it wasn't only his ball skills that caught the nation's eye this year, but his sharp, crisp haircut."

X Factor hopefuls Journey South and Chelsea player Frank Lampard completed the top five, with David Beckham in sixth.

Prime Minister Tony Blair's son Euan made the worst haircut list, one place ahead of Sir Elton John.

More than 1,000 people voted in the survey which marks Brylcreem National Men's Hair Week.
