The Sugababes vs Girls Aloud have marched straight to the top of the charts with their Comic Relief single Walk This Way.

The girlbands performed the remake, originally recorded by Run DMC and Aerosmith, to open the seven-hour fundraising show for Red Nose Day on Friday night.

And another act from the comedy extravaganza, Phoenix Night's Brian Potter and Little Britain's Andy Pipkin, entered the singles chart at number three with their version of 80s anthem (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles by The Proclaimers.

The newcomers forced Take That down to number four with Shine after two weeks in the top spot.

Gwen Stefani featuring Akon held on to number two with The Sweet Escape and Fray was another non-mover with How to Save a Life at five.

Kaiser Chiefs and Ruby was down three to number six and Mika fell one place to seven with Grace Kelly.

Justin Timberlake and What Goes Around Comes Around fell from four to eight, just ahead of Camille Jones and Fedde Le Grande at nine with The Creeps and Calvin Harris, who climbed from 17 to 10 with Acceptable in the 80s.
