Former One Direction singer Zayn Malik has branded Calvin Harris a “d***head” after the DJ hit out at a post Malik retweeted concerning Taylor Swift.

Malik, 22, retweeted a post from B**** Problems – an account which posted two quotes from Swift and Miley Cyrus and slammed the Blank Space singer for taking her music off of Spotify.

Tagging Malik and the B**** Problems account, Harris – who has been dating Swift since April – tweeted: “You've made your money? Cool...f*** the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f*** em.

“If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry...stay out my f****** mentions pls.

“While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor f***** in a basement making your new favourite record trying to survive.

“Meaning...stay out of things you don't understand.”

Convinced that the outburst was directed at him, Malik replied: “You clearly didn't understand what I just said either.

"Ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate.

“So I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out.

“Oh and I write my own s*** too d***head.”

Keen to assure the singer – who recently split from Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards – that his outburst was directed at the quote not Malik, Harris posted: “All good, it was the quote not you personally mate… Lol.”

“Best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice.”

The Twitter spat comes a day after Swift invited Edwards on stage with her band Little Mix to perform as part of Swift's 1989 word tour.
