X Factor judge Simon Cowell wanted to take a bath so much he splashed out £2000, according to reports.

The 56-year-old’s boiler broke and left him without hot water so he checked himself into London’s Mandarin Oriental.

The expensive soak set him back £2000 and a source told The Sun: “Simon loves baths and they’re central to his daily routine.

“He’ll admit booking a suite in a flash hotel just to use their bath is slightly excessive, but when you’re as rich as Simon it’s not quite as big a deal.”

Cowell made his love of bathing public when he admitted that he baths “three times a day”.

Speaking to People in 2011 he said: “'I'm obsessed with cleanliness for myself, so I will take a bath three times a day, sometimes a steam twice a day in addition to that.”

His X Factor dressing room also houses a bath with a source previously revealing: "Simon's dressing room is like a mini version of his house - he even has a king-sized bed and bath, plus a storage area for his Champagne.

"His list of requirements also includes a barman, massage therapist and a gold buggy cart to take him around."
