X Factor's Lauren Platt joins Evening Standard's digital team
X Factor contestant Lauren Platt joined the Evening Standard's digital team today.
The 17-year-old from Essex, who is Cheryl Fernandez Versini's only remaining finalist in the competition, has been dazzling audiences on the ITV show and has already had an iTunes hit with her version of Frozen song Let it Go.
Despite making headlines for her music skills and receiving praise from judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Mel B, she is keen to learn more about journalism.

Joining the Showbiz department of standard.co.uk, Platt demonstrated a real enthusiasm for her new role.
She said: "I'm so excited to be guest editing today. I've always been intrigued to go behind the scenes at such a big newspaper and it will be fun to be on the other side of the news for a change."
Her tasks included helping out with Christmas gift guides, reporting on life in the X Factor house and taking over the @StandardShowbiz Twitter feed.
The star has a busy few months ahead and will be joining another seven contestants on the X Factor 2015 Live Tour. She said: "I cannot believe I am going on tour with everyone. It's the craziest thing knowing that the journey doesn’t stop here and I get to continue my X Factor experience with the rest of the guys.” The tour comes to Wembley Arena on March 12.
