Gary Barlow lost another of his X Factor singers as Kye Sones was beaten in a public vote by the Take That star's least favourite act, Rylan Clark.

The controversial singer survived to the next round of the show after Sones was eliminated in a deadlock show-down on Sunday night, despite Barlow suggesting Clark was not “a real singer”.

Barlow, who stormed off set weeks ago after Clark was saved in another sing-off, declared the head-to-head had been “completely won by Kye”. ,Louis Walsh also backed the former chimney sweeper.

But judges Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa Contostavlos chose Clark’s performance of Des’ree’s Kissing You.

Nicole, who mentors the Essex boy, said: “"(Clark) not only brings light, energy and fun to the show but after that performance you bring art to the show."

Louis Walsh said Clark proved that he could really sing with his rendition of I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz, even though he preferred Sones.

Tulisa said both singers had shown some of their best performances, but said Clark was the one who really had “the X Factor”.

Sones said he is currently writing an album and was grateful that the competition had given him a platform to launch his singing career.

Barlow added: "I always predicted that when you have an act like Rylan in this competition, good singers go home every week.

"I'm upset for Kye."
