Rylan Clark-Neal found himself in hot water after he revealed the real reason for his break from This Morning.

The presenter, who fronts the entertainment segment on the ITV show, shut down rumours that he had been sacked, telling fans he is in desperate need of alone time after “working constantly for five years”.

He tweeted: “Rumours in press why I’m ‘leaving’ or been ‘axed’ from @thismorning . Truth is I need a break. I’ve been working constantly for 5 years and I need some time to myself.

“I'll still be at Big Bro. I just need to take some time to myself. That’s all. I’ll be back soon xxx.”

But his tweet infuriated fans who mocked his need for a break from work, with one telling him to “try doing a real job for 30yrs, 12 hrs a day”.

Another tweeted: “Try working a 40 hour week working shifts and getting paid a lot less than what you get for talking on the telly, I'm sorry but u don't know what work is.”

A third wrote: “I've been working for 30 year and bringing a family up with my wife who's a nurse for 20 years, you sit on a sofa and chat about tv. Don't know you're born mate.”

Others were more sympathetic and agreed he was deserving of a break.

One user tweeted: “You work so hard and seem to be on everything that's currently on TV so you deserve a well earned rest.”

Another encouraged him to seek “legal advice” posting: “Don’t u get annual leave?? I’m not sure it is legal to work that long with no break at all I would seek legal advice if I were u.”

Clark-Neal later deleted the tweet and posted a gif of himself rolling his eyes alongside the caption: “WHEN YOU PIT A NICE LITTLE TWEET UP AND PEOPLE PIPE UP.....

“I’ll just keep it simple....... I’ve not been sacked from @thismorning just having some time off that’s all. Night.”

Clark-Neal, who will front Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side in January, revealed earlier this month that Queen of the Jungle Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo would be replacing him on This Morning.

“I've not really said anything but after Christmas I'm going to be going away for a little bit,” he told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

“It's definitely not goodbye but I'm going to be taking a little bit of a break for a little bit in the New Year.

“I just want to say thank you because it's been lovely and I will be back. I will be back.”

He later left show bosses red-faced on his final show when he told viewers: “I'm like an STD, I always come back.”
