Tim Burton has confirmed that he’s been in talks with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder about making a sequel to Beetlejuice.

While rumours of a follow-up have been doing the rounds for some time, it seems that the iconic director is now actually putting the wheels in motion.

Despite admitting that nothing ‘concrete’ had been decided upon, Burton revealed that he had approached the stars of the original film.

Speaking at the premiere of new film Alice Through The Looking Glass, Burton said:

“The fact of it is I have talked to Michael [Keaton] and I have talked to Winona [Ryder]. I’ve talked to a few people.”

He added: “It’s something that I really would like to do in the right circumstances, but it’s one of those films where it has to be right.

“It’s not a kind of a movie that cries out [for a sequel], it’s not the Beetlejuice trilogy.

“So it’s something that if the elements are right — because I do love the character and Michael’s amazing as that character, so we’ll see. But there’s nothing concrete yet.”

The original film, about a ‘bio-exorcist’ who tries to rid a haunted house of a human couple, became a cult classic when it was released back in 1988.
