Taylor Swift has been branded a snake by Calvin Harris fans who have defended the DJ after it was revealed Swift penned his latest single, This Is What You Came For, under a pseudonym.

Harris hit back on Twitter and told Swift to “focus” on her new relationship and stop trying to “tear your ex bf down for something to do”.

Fans of the Scottish producer rushed to his defence on social media by inundating Swift with snake emojis and kickstarting the #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty hashtag.

Users have shared memes showing Harry Styles, Kanye West and Katy Perry on their way to the fictional party.

Others defended Swift with some branding the hashtag "disgusting" while others littered her social media accounts with heart emojis.

At the time of their split, Swift and Harris said it had been "amicable".

Harris - who dated the Blank Space singer for 15 months - said they called time on the relationship but still had a "huge amount of love and respect" for each other.

But the break-up turned nasty on Wednesday when Harris called out his ex-girlfriend on Twitter by alluding to her feud with Katy Perry and new relationship with Tom Hiddleston.

Harris addressed Swift's skills as an “amazing lyric writer” and said she “smashed it as usual” while penning This Is What You Came For before launching into a tirade.

In a series of tweets he posted: "I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.

“Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though.

“I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.

“I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it."

Harris finished by telling Swift to "focus on the positive aspects" of her life because she has "earned a great one”.

Swift has yet to respond to Harris' comments.
