Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have cemented their relationship on Instagram.

The A-list couple have been pictured together in the UK, Italy and the US in recent weeks - but now they've officially confirmed their status on social media.

Swift's friend Britany Maack shared a picture of the couple sporting matching espadrilles at Swift's Rhode Island beach house.

The Blank Space singer can be seen sitting on the actor's lap as they wrap up their Fourth of July celebrations.

They can be seen alongside Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds and Maack and her husband.

The image was captioned simply: “US.”

The picture comes a day after Hiddleston was spotted sporting an 'I heart TS' vest as he frolicked in the sea with the singer. He teamed the look with a red tattoo featuring the initial 'T'.

Their relationship has sparked scepticism with some branding it "completely fake" while others have claimed it has damaged Hiddleston's chances of becoming James Bond.

A source told The Sun: “Tom’s cool performance in The Night Manager saw him as a late contender for 007, but initial talks have come to an end.

“Bond needs an air of mystery – his public romance with Taylor has made him totally uncastable.”

Piers Morgan mocked the actor and questioned the authenticity of his union with Swift in his Mail Online column.

"I stared at these latest photos for several long minutes, soaking in the full horror of Mr Hiddleston's crime,” he wrote.

"Surely Britain's hottest thespian talent hadn't morphed into a fawning, lovestruck popstar fanboy? This after all, is the man who wants to be the next James Bond, the most rugged, tough, manly movie icon of them all.

"My trusting faith in the genuineness and innocence of Swift-Hiddleston crashed and burned."
