Susanna Reid has revealed that she was influenced to lose a stone of weight after doctors warned her that she was at the “top end of her BMI.”

The Good Morning Britain star has said that she shifted the weight over her eight-week summer break.

The 47-year-old has recently returned from a break from presenting duties and has since opened up about her health journey on-air.

Asked by co-host Piers Morgan about what influenced the change, Reid revealed: “It was a combination of factors, but a doctor said I was at the top end of my BMI.

"He said it might benefit me if I lost a little weight."

Reid had to shut down a “churlish” Piers Morgan after he was overcome with a case of the green-eyed monster following her triple award win.

Reid picked up Best Television Talk Show for Good Morning Britain, Celebrity Personality of the Year and Best TV Presenter, which Morgan was also nominated for, at the National Reality TV Awards.

Reid flaunted her gongs on Good Morning Britain much to the annoyance of Morgan who said: “Nobody actually wanted to be on that. These are the three same awards you won last year. Last time I said what is this event? No one knows this event.

“Is it something you put on? I checked who was there. There were no stars there apart from you. Is it one of those things where if you say you’re going they’ll give you all the awards?”

Shutting him down, Reid replied: “You know you sound really churlish. You can knock it down as much as you like.”
