Susanna Reid is “desperate” for a boozy beverage - and she's begging fans to give her an “excuse” to break being tee-total ahead of the National Television Awards.

Reid previously vowed to break her drink-free spell if the show wins the Daytime award at the glitzy ceremony on Tuesday evening.

Pleading with viewers on Good Morning Britain, Reid said: "I'm desperate for a drink, I could not be more desperate for a drink.

"Give me an excuse to go out and have a drink."

Charlotte Hawkins then quizzed Reid on her drink of choice if they win.

Reid said: “That's a very good question, I think I'd like a margarita.

Competition: GMB will face off against This Morning

"If someone could prepare a nice, fresh lime margarita. And a Greggs vegan sausage roll for my TV husband."

The show is up for an award in the Daytime category, facing off against This Morning, who have taken the title consecutively for the past eight years.

An agitated Piers Morgan insisted that the show, fronted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, does not need any more awards.

He said: “Tell me one thing they've done this year. Everyone has been talking about us all year, why would you give it to them? So come on. Show some sense.”

Morgan previously vowed to go vegan if the show takes the gong, despite throwing up Greggs’ new vegan sausage roll earlier this month.

Morgan promised to ditch meat in favour of a plant-based diet for one week after mocking that it could “actually kill me.”
