Supermodel Sophie Dahl, having just sold her one-bedroom bachelor flat in Clapham to DJ Chris Tarrant for an estimated £300,000, is looking for a country pad. "We've got our eye on a beautiful period cottage with three bedrooms in Oxfordshire," says her mother Tessa Dahl. "She loves the country having spent a lot of her childhood there. Now she wants somewhere to unwind after the frantic life she leads in London and New York."

James Daunt, owner of the eponymous Marylebone travel bookshop, has bought a four-bedroom house in Downshire Hill, Hampstead, with a 100ft garden, for £1.3 million. Builders are currently renovating the four-floor Regency house, which has a country kitchen with an Aga. "I know he's adding a lot of bookshelves,"says a spokesman for agents FPD Savills.

Jensen Button, the new young hope in the Williams Formula 1 motor-racing team, has been spotted house hunting around the Newbury area in Berkshire. Bicester-born Button, just 21 and unmarried, is obviously going to be as nifty with his investments as he is with his driving.

Mikey Graham, the kick-boxing member of Irish boy band Boyzone, has bought himself a modest little pied-à-terre in London. The two-bedroom garden flat in Islington was for sale through Holden Matthews for £210,000.

The former home of comedian Julian Clary in the Hillmartin Conservation Area (known to everyone except estate agents as Holloway) is on the market through Benham and Reeves. The four-bedroom house with 30ft long kitchen diner has a double garage and a garden. £620,000 is the asking price.

Carol Edge, former wife of Moody Blues star Graeme Edge, has put two adjoining houses in Parkgate Road, Battersea, on the market for £1.7 million, or £850,000 individually, through Victoria Soames. "The double house would be perfect for someone with a big family as it would have seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and a large garden," says Carol, ex-girlfriend of actor Terence Stamp and former Sunday Times editor Andrew Neil. "I've lived in one of the houses for years and bought the other to rent out. I'm selling because I want to move abroad."
