Sophie Turner appears to have revealed the culprit behind the misplaced coffee cup in Westeros.

Game of Thrones fans were left questioning how a takeaway cup ended up on a table next to Daenerys as everyone celebrated the Battle of Winterfell in the final season.

But Turner, who played Sansa Stark, has since blamed “lazy” Kit Harington after some viewers accused her of being responsible for the errant item.

“I hear this every day of my life, this coffee cup thing, so it’s good to know that the coffee cup got more press than the final season altogether,” she said on Conan.

“The coffee cup was where Kit’s chair was. First I blamed it on Emilia [Clarke], but I don’t think Emilia would do that.”

She continued: “Kit is lazy and I think he would have done that. It was in front of Kit’s chair and then obviously he moved and this picture was taken and it looked like it was in my seat, but I wasn’t there either. It was Kit. It was one hundred percent Kit.”

Turner built a case to defend herself claiming she barely drinks anything while filming as she wears a corset which makes her need the toilet.

“I wear a corset, so I either p*** myself or I throw up,” she joked. “Kit doesn’t wear a corset. It’s Kit! And it’s not Emilia, Emilia wears a corset, too. It’s a hundred percent Kit.”

Clarke, who played Daenerys, poked fun at the incident on Instagram, telling fans the Mother of Dragons does not drink Starbucks tea.

Clarke posted a behind-the-scenes picture of herself holding a cup alongside Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage. “Did I just stumble upon the truth here?!” she captioned the shot. “The cup bearer does not drinketh the Starbucks tea... oh and this ain’t a spoiler just a lost wanderer coming home for a mid filming cuppa.... @prideofgypsies you so fire you make my hair turn blue.”

She finished the post with the hashtags “#forfuturereferenceileavethebagin” and “#forthecaffeine”.

But the cup wasn’t the only modern day item which found itself in Westeros, with a plastic water bottle later spotted in King’s Landing.
