DVD/VIDEO Double Whammy Universal Pictures Video, 15, £15.99/rental
Tom DiCillo has a dud moment with Double Whammy, a confused and frequently dull tale of Denis Leary's run of bad luck. Dubbed the 'loser cop' when he fails to stop a massacre due to a back spasm, Leary visits a conveniently beautiful chiropractor, Elizabeth Hurley, at the recommendation of his sexually confused partner Steve Buscemi.

As their romance stops and starts, Leary's apartment building turns out to be riddled with psychopaths and idiot script writers. The result aspires to Pulp Fiction-level cool but, despite some funny moments, never comes close.
