Rupert Grint has finally met fellow Ron Weasley actor Paul Thornley.

The 27-year-old actor, who starred in the Harry Potter film franchise, ran into the older version of his iconic character during a trip to see The Cursed Child.

After watching a performance of the critically-acclaimed show on Wednesday night, Grint slipped backstage to meet the cast.

And it looked like he was getting on like a house on fire with his fellow Weasley, posing for a picture for the play’s official Instagram account.

“Rupert Grint met Paul Thornley after the #CursedChild performance this evening at the Palace Theatre, London. #KeepTheSecrets,” the caption read.

Fellow Potter alumni Emma Watson also stopped by to meet the cast back in July, sharing a picture with Hermione star Noma Dumezweni.

Daniel Radcliffe is the only member of the original trio who is yet to visit the show, but fans aren’t’ holding out any hopes of spotting him in the audience.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert, he recently said: “I feel like I want to see the show. I am genuinely intrigued and I've heard it's fantastic.

“But I just feel sitting in an audience of what will for the most of the near future be very enthusiastic Harry Potter fans might be like not a relaxing way to see a show.”

He added: “So not for the time being, but I've heard it's fantastic.”

The newly-released script of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has become the biggest-selling play script of all time after and the biggest-selling title of the year.
