Rita Ora and Demi Lovato are set to battle it out at this year’s British LGBT Awards.

The singing sensations are among a host of names shortlisted for the Music Artist of the Year award, which recognises those individuals who have thrown their support behind LGBT communities.

Other names in the category include American singer Halsey, actor and rapper Jaden Smith and Troye Sivan.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, IDGAF singer Dua Lipa, Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid and Killing Eve star Jodie Comer will all face off against a host of A-list names in a bid to win the coveted Celebrity Ally gong.

Other worthy names in the category include girl-group Little Mix and Hollywood stars Michael B. Jordan and Timothée Chalamet.

Coronation Street’s dramatic storyline between Kate Connor and Rana Nazir, Courtney Act taking home the Celebrity Big Brother crown and Hollywood blockbuster Love Simon are all up for the Media Moment of the Year gong.

Model Cara Delevingne, who earlier this year broke Royal protocol by wearing a suit to the Royal Wedding, is up for the LGBT+ Celebrity Award alongside Fantastic Beasts actor Ezra Miller and I'm A Celebrity campmate John Barrowman.

Drag queen RuPaul, comedian Stephen Fry and Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful are amongst the names up for the Broadcaster or Journalist of the Year Award.

Founder of the British LGBT Awards, Sarah Garrett MBE, said: “A really broad mix of deserving people and organisations have been nominated in the 2019 British LGBT Awards – it’s our most diverse shortlist yet.

“From actors to musicians, TV personalities and influencers, the list is an amazing group of role models who have supported the community and shown their commitment to raising awareness and advancing LGBT+ rights.”

The 2019 LGBT awards will take place at London’s Marriott Grosvenor Square on Friday, May 17.
