Rebecca Adlington has spoken out about her split from husband Harry Needs, claiming that they’re still ‘the best of friends’.

The former Olympian, who announced her separation last month, has opened up about the couple’s decision to call it quits.

In an interview with the Irish Mirror, the 27-year-old insisted that there is no bad blood between the pair and they talk ‘all the time’.

“We are still very much best friends. And it’s not like we’re not talking, because we are – we talk all the time,” she said.

“We are both just working hard on trying to be good parents, and our total focus is on our daughter.”

Talking about being a new mother to nine-month-old daughter, Summer, Adlington added:

“We are both so sporty so we take her swimming, and I would be very surprised if Summer doesn’t grow up to be very sporty and active.

“She’s only nine months old but her personality is coming out – she’s already so independent, and knows exactly what she wants to do... so she’s a bit like me.”

Adlington and Needs confirmed news of their split in a statement last month, which read:

“It’s after much thought and sadness that we confirm our separation. It is on amicable terms and we still remain close friends.

“We move forward with respect for one another and our focus and commitment is on parenting our gorgeous daughter Summer. This will be our only comment on this private matter.”
