Quentin Tarantino has said that he knew about the sexual abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein for decades and failed to act.

The Oscar-winning director has admitted that he was aware of the producer’s alleged misconduct towards numerous women and “knew enough to do more than I did.”

The pair collaborated for years on high profile films including Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds.

“I knew enough to do more than I did,” Tarantino told the New York Times, citing alleged incidents involving famous actresses.

“There was more to it than just the normal rumours, the normal gossip. It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things.”

Tarantino added: “I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard,” he added. “If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him.”

The director went on to claim that his former girlfriend Mira Sorvino had told him about sexual harassment by Weinstein and he was aware of the settlement that Rose McGowan has reached with him.

“What I did was marginalize the incidents,” he said. “Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse.”

More than 40 women have alleged that Weinstein sexually abused or harassed them, including Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
