Prince, one of the world’s most iconic pop stars, has announced that he will be performing a number of concerts in London next month.

While information on the specific dates and venues are still to be released, it has been announced today that the Purple Rain singer will begin his tour on February 3 and perform at some of London’s "most iconic" stages as part of his Hit and Run tour.

The tour coincides with the release of his new album Plectrum Electrum album, the 33rd studio album of his career.

The singer songwriter, who is known for his history as an exhibitionist, is set to live up to that bill after planning a pre-tour press conference in the front room of rising British songstress Lianne La Havas.

La Havas, who worked with Prince last year in his Minneapolis studio, had jokingly offered her front room as a place for him to host a press conference. Inextricably, he accepted.

The last time the star played the UK was back in 2007, when he sold out a 21 night run at the O2 Arena.

He will be supported on tour by American all-female rock trio 3RDEYEGIRL.
