Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie ‘rushed to hospital’ after falling off stage
Musician Bobby Gillespie has reportedly been rushed to hospital after falling off stage during a concert.
The Primal Scream frontman, 53, is thought to have suffered back injuries after slipping from a speaker stack during the band’s performance at the Swiss festival Caribana on Thursday.
NME reports that the singer has not suffered any ‘major’ injuries, but is still recovering in hospital.
According to onlookers, the British band were forced to abandon their show after Gillespie was taken away from the festival site on a stretcher.
The festival presenter reportedly told the crowd: “We are taking good care of Bobby.”
Fans took to Twitter following the incident to wish the star a speedy recovery, with one person writing:
“Oh s***! Bobby Gillespie just took a nasty looking tumble off the stage! Hope he's ok.”
A fan account tweeted: “Worrying reports about Bobby Gillespie falling off stage during @ScreamOfficial’s set at @caribanafest in Switzerland. Let’s hope he is OK.”
The band, who released brand new album Chaosmosis back in March, have a number of festival and concert dates lined up for the summer.
Their next show is scheduled for June 17 at Spanish festival Azken and they will play The Beat-Herder Festival in the UK on July 15.
