The TV presenter, 52, reignited his feud with the singers in the wake of the news that suicide bomber Salman Abedi was responsible for the Manchester terror attack which killed 22 people.

Allen compared Morgan to Katie Hopkins and accused him of scaremongering, tweeting: “Please ignore Piers, Hopkins, they thrive on hate. Profit even.Don't engage. #moreincommon.”

Morgan laid into the singer, who he has previously been at logger-heads with over Donald Trump, replying: “Pipe down @lilyallen, you ridiculous virtue-signalling, PC-crazed, attention-seeking, hate-stirring, deluded clown.”

Allen hit back by branding him an “insidious p****”.

Some jumped to her defence with one posting “leave the Queen of pop alone,” while others praised Morgan for being “exactly what we need”.

Another tweeted: “Wise words mate... but surely an insult to clowns! They make people laugh and bring joy… not sure what l Allen brings to the party!”

Their spat came hours after Morgan was embroiled in a war of words with Church, who took aim at his suggestion that the Muslim community should do more to root out extremists.

Replying to one of his followers, Morgan tweeted: “Muslims can do a lot more to help police & Mi5 root out radicalised members of their communities, yes.”

Church replied: “By your logic men should do more to root out rapists. Doesn't really work like that does it?”

Uninterested in her comment, Morgan responded: “I can't deal with your level of absurd, virtue-signalling ignorance today, sorry.”

Church later explained herself after receiving a backlash for taking aim at the controversial presenter.

She tweeted: “I wasn't trying to score points, Piers has a surprising amount of power over what people hear/think. I was trying to show how unfair and unbalanced his comments were. All of us want to find a way for these attacks to stop.

“Not a day for arguing. Sending comfort to everyone who's hurting today.”
