Phillip Schofield couldn’t resist taking a dig at Rylan Clark-Neal over his Great Celebrity Bake Off creation, which he mocked for its resemblance to the “poo emoji”.

Clark-Neal, who stood in for Willoughby on This Morning while she was at her grandmother’s funeral, was met with a string of cutting remarks from Schofield.

Quizzing him ahead of the show airing later today, Schofield asked Clark-Neal “what kind of chef” he is.

Clark-Neal hailed himself a “colourful chef” with desserts as his “speciality”, unaware that Schofield was hinting at his showstopper creation on the show.

Oh dear: Schofield couldn't resist laughing at the creation

Schofield prompted: “We live in a world of great photos, great pictures, Instagram. Do you send lots of pictures of your food? No no. The only reason I’m asking any of this is because of the meringue- was it a meringue?”

Trying to keep it together, Clark-Neal explained: “As you know I was a bit of an Ibiza child, and in Ibiza there’s this place called Es Vedra, it’s a beautiful rock - a brown rock - in the middle of the sea.

“You go there to make your wishes, and I thought, I’m going to make Es Vedra out of meringue.”

Unable to contain himself any longer, Schofield shouted the cue for the image to pop up of Clark-Neal’s dessert, which was a meringue swirl tower covered in a sloppy chocolate layer.

Bursting into laughter, Schofield prompted the reality star to look at the screen, which showed a comparison between the infamous poo emoji and Clark-Neal’s cake.

The TV presenter shouted: “It’s even got a mouth!”

Attempting to defend the design, Clark-Neal said: “In my defence, can I just say, I didn’t know that was how it was going to look until I did it.

“I thought, I want to get a rocky texture so I melted chocolate and hazelnuts.”

Clark-Neal is not the only celebrity to have raised eyebrows on the charity special of the show.

However, his efforts proved successful as Brand took home the star baker title.
