Frances McDormand may have won big at the SAG Awards – but she wasn’t interested in the rigmarole that comes with it.

The American actress, 60, added Outstanding Lead Actress to her growing awards haul for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, at Sunday night’s ceremony.

But she was less than pleased at being made to pose for photos in the winner’s room with her fellow co-stars.

“I don’t have a lot of patience,” she shouted to the bray of photographers. “People want to go and have a drink.”

She then shouted “one, two, three” before moving to the other end of the line for a quick picture before pacing off of the makeshift stage.

McDormand fought off tough competition from Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins, Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan to take home the coveted award.

The actress – who also has a Tony and Academy Award to her name – paid tribute to the “tireless men and women who represent us truly” as well as Three Billboards director Martin McDonagh.

She said: “When Martin wrote Three Billboards he did not sketch a blue print. He didn’t string together a few words. He wrote meticulously – crafted a tsunami and then he allowed his troupe of actors to surf it into the shore. Thank you Martin.”

She finished by encouraging awards voters to dish out the gongs to younger actors in the future as they need “doorstops too”.

She said: “This is really great. I come out of the woods every few years and you invite me to the party.

“But there’s a lot of young ones coming up and they need doorstops too, let’s think about that.”

Three Billboards also won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, while Sam Rockwell was honoured with Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor.

Other big winners on the night included Gary Oldman, who won Leading Actor, and Nicole Kidman who continued her TV reign, picking up another win for HBO’s Big Little Lies.
