Mickey Rourke looked shocked as he came face to face with his own reflection while out to lunch in New York yesterday.

The 61-year-old - wearing a shirt and leather waistcoat all-in-one - was showcasing a voluminous gravity defying toupee that would put Albert Einstein’s barnet to shame.

Positioned loosely near the back of his head so as to create a massively receding hairline, the fabulous bouffant joined the Nine and a Half Weeks actor for lunch.

His recent appearance is worlds away from his fresh faced look in 1990s film Wild Orchid where he was the owner of real hair and defined features.

The motorbike enthusiast’s face has suffered a bashing over the years due to his professional boxing career, which resulted in a broken nose, toe, and ribs, compressed cheekbone and split tongue.

Now an animal rights activist, Rourke was in New York to promote his new film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he sat with an ice pack on one leg.

The film which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Rosario Dawson is set for release on 22 August.
