GAME REVIEW: Sim City 4 (PC, £29.99)

Before SimCity hits the PS2, we're being treated to yet another PC version. And this one feels very similar to the original from 1989.

The main difference is that the once simple and addictive game is replaced by one burdened with a crippling management system: you'll spend more time tweaking taxation sliders than creating your international airport.

In fact, it's now so detailed that it will bring most PCs to a grinding halt with tedious screen re-draws.

Sim City 4 hasn't forgotten its roots, though, and sports an astonishing range of disasters to befall your metropolis - tornados, meteor showers and even giant robots - to stomp your creation to rubble in no time.

For most players, this will probably be the most enjoyable part.
