Noel Edmonds has come under fire for telling a cancer sufferer that his disease could be blamed on his ‘negative attitude’.

The TV and radio presenter faced a Twitter backlash on Tuesday after responding to a fan who criticised the £2000 EMPpad that he was promoting, which he claimed could ‘tackle’ cancer.

Earlier in the day, Edmonds posted an unbelievable advert for the yoga mat on his account, with the bold claim:

“A simple box that slows ageing, reduces pain, lifts depression and stress and tackles cancer . Yep tackles cancer!”

Cancer-sufferer Vaun Earl was quick to call out the TV star, tweeting: “F****** idiot. This sort of quackery should be illegal if it isn't already @TeessideSitP.”

Edmonds then hit back at Earl, who is suffering from kidney cancer, asking: “Have you tried it?”

He added: “Scientific fact-disease is caused by negative energy. Is it possible your ill health is caused by your negative attitude? #explore.”

Vaun responded by saying: “Wow! How do you know I have a negative attitude. You have no idea who I am. #patronising #cancer.

“Amazing. I'm the most positive person I know despite my disabilities and long term ill health. Weird.”

Twitter users were quick to slam Edmonds, with one person writing: “did Noel Edmunds just suggest this mans cancer was caused by a negative attitude? WTF!!!! (sic).”

Another wrote: “My mother died of pancreatic cancer. She was the most positive person I've ever met who would help anybody, clown.”
