Director Noel Clarke rushed to the scene of the Grenfell Tower fire as his mum lives just 50 yards away from the block of flats.

The London-born actor and filmmaker, who grew up on a council estate on Ladbroke Grove, still has a number of relatives and friends in the area.

“My relatives live here, I grew up here, my films are set here, my friends live here, one of my friend's nieces is still missing,” he told MailOnline.

The Brotherhood director helped deliver supplies to the victims of Wednesday’s horrific blaze and has launched an appeal to help find missing 12-year-old Jessica Urbano Ramiez.

“I was on my way into town and I knew I had to come and help so I have been here carrying water inside the church. I've got clothes being delivered by a couple of labels and Pepsi are going to be sending drinks,” he said.

“The community support has been great. London has been affected by a lot in the past few weeks and the way people are coming together is amazing."

Appeal: Noel Clarke's friend's niece Jessica Urbano, 12, is missing after the fire

Clarke isn’t the only star who has dedicated his time to helping those affected by the tragic events, with both Adele and Rita Ora spotted lending a hand.

While Adele was seen comforting victims during Wednesday night’s vigil, Ora spent the day sorting donations and supplies for those left homeless.

Grenfell Tower residents were trapped “screaming for their lives” as flames tore through the 27-storey Grenfell Tower in the early hours of Wednesday.

More than 70 patients have been taken to five different hospitals, with the London Fire Brigade confirming there have been 17 fatalities.
