Game of Thrones fans were left seething after Arya Stark’s battle with the Night King didn’t win Best Fight at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Fans of the incredibly successful HBO show made their feelings of discontent clear as Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel scooped the award over Maisie Williams’ character’s triumphant tussle.

The death sealed an important victory for the army of the living, with Arya being branded “heroic” by viewers.

However, it was Larson who was honoured with the popcorn statue, bouncing up on stage to say the award was “so cool” and thanking her stunt doubles and trainers who were standing either side of her.

Fans immediately made their feelings known as they slammed the Game Of Thrones “oversight” online.

One wrote: “Are you freaking kidding me Captain Marvel won’t best fight over Captain America and Arya from Game of thrones. Nah that’s not correct #MTVMovieAwards.”

Another said: “Sorry @MTV but if you didn't think Arya's fight in the long night was the best fight... you know nothing!!! #teamstark #AryaStark.”

“Ummm @MTV how the fudgeeee did Arya Stark (@Maisie_Williams ) not win? She’s is the baddest of the baddest. This has me so upset,” commented somebody else.

Captain Marvel also beat competition from Captain America vs. Thanos in Avengers: Endgame and Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s fight against inequality in On The Basis of Sex.

The film, which was released back in March, also includes Jude Law and Samuel L Jackson among its cast.
