Moby has confirmed he has been invited to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration – and is happy to do so, on one condition.

The DJ, 51, said he would take up the offer if the US President-elect releases his tax returns.

Moby revealed on Instagram that a booking agent approached him to see whether he would like to DJ the event, despite him previously branding the Republican “an actual sociopath”.

Alongside a picture of the White House he wrote: “Hahahahaha, I was just asked by a booking agent if I would consider djing at one of the inaugural balls for #trump... Hahahahaha, wait, Hahahaha, really?

“I guess I'd DJ at an inaugural ball if as payment #trump released his tax returns.”

The electronic musician also joked that he would make an anti-Republican play list should he take up the offer to perform.

He continued: “Also I would probably play Public Enemy and Stockhausen remixes to entertain the republicans. I'm still laughing. Hahahaha. So #trump what do you think, I DJ for you and you release your tax returns?”

Trump will be sworn in as President in Washington, DC on January 20.

The former Apprentice star has had trouble securing musicians to perform at the ceremony.

Charlotte Church also rejected an offer, branding Mr. Trump a "tyrant".

Sir Elton John, Gene Simmons, Garth Brooks, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli have all turned down invitations to perform.

America's Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho will sing the US national anthem at next Friday's ceremony.
