Michelle Obama has earned herself the title of First Lady of karaoke after she jumped in the passenger seat for a sing-along drive with James Corden.

Obama proved she can sing - and dance - as she made her Carpool Karaoke debut on The Late Late Show.

Corden was left shocked as he welcomed his most high profile guest to date after she offered to give him a tour of The White House.

“I hear you’re here for a 1:45pm tour and I have a little time on my hands, so do you want to go for a spin?,” she said.

The duo kicked off the skit with Obama’s “favourite” artist, Stevie Wonder. The pair sang along to Signed, Sealed Delivered – which was President Barack Obama’s victory song in 2008.

Mrs Obama revealed she “rarely” gets to “rock out” to music in a car and described joining Corden as a "treat".

“I’ve been in a car a few months ago with my daughter who learned to drive,” she told the chat show host. “That’s the only time in seven and a half years that I’ve been in the passenger seat listening to music and rocking out like this, so this is very much a treat.”

The pair then belted out Beyonce’s 2008 hit Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), complete with all the dance moves, before Mrs Obama cracked a ‘Lemonade’ quip and told Corden: “We were making honey to put in our lemonade.”

In between songs Corden asked his guest what she will miss when her husband finishes his tenure as President – and jokingly asked what she will "accidentally" take with her when they leave the White House.

The First Lady was on the show to promote Let Girls Learn, an initiative which helps to raise funds for 62 million girls world wide who do not have access to education.

Missy Elliott jumped in the back seat as the ‘squad’ sang This Is For My Girls – the Dianne Warren penned track for Let Girls Learn.

The trio then rapped Get Ur Freak On – and Mrs Obama knew every word.
