Former Spice Girls member Mel C has hinted that the band could once again reunite on stage to mark the 20th anniversary of their iconic single Wannabe.

The song, which was the girl’s first UK number one, propelled them to becoming the biggest girl band in the world and selling tens of millions of records globally.

And Chisholm, also known as Sporty Spice, believes that the 20th birthday of the single could result in a small reunion tour from the girls.

She said: "It's funny isn't it because people are saying it's the 20 year anniversary of the Spice Girls, and we did get together in '94, but 'Wannabe' wasn't released until '96 so we don't really see it until '96.

"And you might see a few of us having a little dance about on stage, no plans, but we'll see what we can do for you."

While Chisholm and pals Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Gerri Halliwell might be keen, it will take a bit more persuading to get fifth member Victoria Beckham on board.

With Beckham currently overseeing the opening of her clothing line’s first store in London and vowing never to perform again, the tour might have to be a four-girl affair.

After performing at the Olympic Games in 2012, the 39-year-old claimed: "I won't ever do it again. Doing the Olympics was an incredible honour. I was so proud to do it; proud to be British...That was a perfect time to say, 'That's great. Thank you to everybody, but no more.' Sometimes you've got to know when it's time to leave the party."

The last time the all five performed together before the Olympics, was during their sell out Return of the Spice Girls World Tour, which saw the girls take on 47 shows, including a 17 night stand at London’s o2.
