Zara McDermott has revealed she is no longer in contact with ex-boyfriend Adam Collard following their split earlier this year.

The Love Island star, who enjoyed a brief eight-month romance after meeting Collard in the villa last year, said she doesn’t feel the need to be friends with her former flame but has insisted there is “no drama” between them.

“We aren’t really on speaking terms, but I’m sure if I saw him at an event or anything I’d say hello, no drama,” she told OK!.

“We had an amazing experience together but there’s not really a need for a friendship between us now.”

Throwing her support behind the choice, McDermott said: “Yeah I’ve seen. I think it’s nice he’s turned it into something meaningful.

“Nin is his name for his Portuguese nan who passed a few years ago, so it’s lovely really!”

She added that the relationship really “wasn’t right” after admitting she tried not to see it.

McDermott revealed she is now dating other people but has no plans to go public with her future relationships.

She said: “I’m in a great place with amazing people around me. The happiest I’ve been in a long time.

“I am dating but the best thing for me is to keep any dating related stuff out of the public eye. It’s nice to share with people but I’ve learnt my lesson that relationships are better kept private and between two people.”

At the time she wrote: “I am heartbroken to announce that Adam and I have parted ways. I love him very much and will always have a special place in my heart for him and our time spent together.

“I have tried so hard to be the best person I can possibly be and to make it work. Sometimes in life, you just aren’t enough for someone; no matter what you do for them or how much you try to be.”
