Lewis Capaldi has joked that he is going to “end his career” with his upcoming Glastonbury Festival set.

The Scottish singer-songwriter will play the Other Stage on Saturday afternoon ahead of The Killer's headline set.

But Capaldi quipped that he is going to “bottle it” and topple his hugely successful career so far, which has seen his debut album top the charts.

Alongside a series of funny snaps of himself and a teddy bear, Capaldi wrote: “I’M PLAYING GLASTONBURY. Saturday at 4pm on the Other Stage if you want to see me bottle it and end my career x.”

The accompanying snaps showed Capaldi larking around with a big soft toy and taking a selfie with the oversized stuffed animal as well as giving it a cuddle.

The singer’s record racked up 89,506 combined sales to top the pile, outperforming the rest of the Top 10 put together.

The triumph saw Capaldi overtake Ariana Grande who previously held the title for fastest-seller of the year after her week one success with Thank U, Next earlier this year.

Celebrating his success, Capaldi said: “It feels good. It feels like I’m going to make some money finally, after years of slogging.

“It makes me so proud to have made this album. Thank you for everyone who went out and bought it.”

Two of his tracks – Someone You Loved and Hold Me While You Wait – were in the Top 5 Singles of the week, at three and five respectively.
